but still, becos of this ceremony, i had to rush home after practical at 530pm to change to formal wear before gg out at 6pm... kat (thanks for coming down!!!!), mark, kevin n i were like rushing there, late as usual... but like kat said:" trinity events never starts on time" haha...
but the ceremony was surprisingly rather short and most of the time was used to catch up with teachers and having refreshments! more like my dinner! hehe... the bao tasted weird though, have u heard of "mashed potato chilli bun"?? HAHA..
too bad i have an essay due tmr which i am working on now so cldn join kat for dinner!! sry, after tue ok?

friday, mel, kelvin, pj, ailynn n i went for the medleys musical at union hse theatre at 8pm.. befor tht we went for dinner at lygon:) salmon pizza:P (yiching, dont worry, our date with our salmon will definitely be soon) yays... n the pasta was superb.. :-)
supposed to go to the city but kelvin's butt has been cramming since the day we played tennis like 3 weeks ago..seems quite bad...faster get well ya then we can play again:) it is such a coincidence that in PBL we have been taking abt NSAIDs, then he has to take them now...
the musical was quite cool and funny. though actually i didn catch many of them.. haha... mel was actually wondering if i wld catch any of those humour at all..LOL.. sighs.. hehe.. but i like the musical parts and the voices weren half bad :) this goes to show how medical students arent all nerds afterall:) the medleys show attracts a big crowd every year and it goes for three days in a row:) the sad thing is that the best actors in the production are mostly final year students...hopefully the rest can keep up the standard...
it was an 2 hr plus show... started at 8 plus and ended ard 11pm... was surprised it lasted so long...maybe of the breaks and the late start... after the show, we went for fredos gelati!!!! so long since i had it:) bought a tub (roche, pandan n durian) and the 5 of us shared... i think we finished the tub in less than 10 min.. haha... too bad there weren any green tea left..almost all the flavours were finished...
yest, sat played tennis with peter n pj frm 10 to ard 12pm before paul, dickson n jackie came and we went for lunch at lygon... it was actually kinda of a farewell for peter cos that lucky boy is gg on a round the world trip with his family for two months!!!:) so free!haha...according to his itinerary, he is gg to so many places ard the globe i think he has to put up a world map and trace his journey.. las vegas, rome, athens, toronoto etc...hope to do tht one day too:) travelling is so nice:) have a great time peter:) i think he left this morning at 9am...

had to substitute several things... didn have fresh coconut for the coating so since i had desiccated coconut in the cupboard, so i just soaked in warm water and then had a HARD time trying to FILTER (using paper towels :P) n DRY them after tht to use:)
my kitchen was a mess... and i took so long just to make a dozen... but anyways, it was worth it... wait till my sis comes back , i will make her try some... whether she wants to or NOT!!! MUHAHAHA...:)
i have this weird theory that medical students have to get used to being poked before we get the chance to inject/poke others...
on tuesday, i had another immunisation session!! haha... for Hep B and chicken pox (2nd dose)... two injections on one arm... ouch... actually i tot i was there for the chicken pox injection, but they told me i had to take Hep B... then i asked abt the 2nd dose for the c.p injection cos they gave me one before the june holidays...SO, they said ok, better take another one rather than not being immunised, so they gave me two injections!! how kind :P let me count, i have been injected abt 7 times since the beginning of this year... it is becoming a routine that i am like "want to poke, just poke" haha...:)
moreover, we had a practical today on a glucose intolerance test... during this test, we had to measure out fasting blood glucose then consume 50g of glucose( u sld see the amt of glucose powder!! almost half a cup of powder and we added water... SO SWEET).. i think u can almost bake a cake with tht amt of sugar!!!
then we had to measure our blood glucose 5 times in total over a period of 2 hrs, to see how our blood glucose rise and fell... as u can guess, we were kinda worse than a diabetic patient, cos we had to prick our fingers 5 times over 2 hrs with this device called the minilet lancet...u pushed it down and the needle inside pricks u... we had to plaster all our five fingers after that cos some pple cldn stop the blood frm flowing...it was really weird...5 fingers all plastered... but i didn like the feeling of plasters on my fingers so i decided not to use them...my blood clotted easily, which helped:)
but eeliang, i think, had "clotting problem", not enough vit K... haha.. he just had to prick himself once and used that finger to draw blood 5 times...doesnt seem to clot! lol...
it has been a long day... :) before that glucose prac, it was necessary to fast for 3 hrs and the prac was at 1pm to 4pm, so in total we had to starve for 6 hrs... haha... i started the day at 9am, and lynn brought brownies to PBL, so i took one, tried to finish it before 10am so it wld be three hrs before the prac...but i left the other half in my bag..:)
my fasting glucose was 2.4mM/L, which was really low, ocnsidering the normal range is frm 3.9-5.6mM...n i had a BROWNIE tht morning plus breakfast before that!! haha... HYPOGLYCEMIA i think... overproduction of insulin.. hehe...
finished prac at 430pm, went to tennis court to pass some time cos pj, peter (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!:)!), dickson, paul, geoff etc were there hitting...played a bit, which was hard cos i cldn run in my shoes...
at 530, i had to attend the talk by National Healthcare Group frm spore which was here to invite overseas medical students to do their housemanship year in spore instead...yes, they seem to have to many PULLING factors... might consider doing it back there too:)
anyways, the crowd was mostly 5/6th year students who were abt to graduate, and i was the only 1st year student there... andrew and pamela was 2nd years with me, but i felt so out of place...LOl...things i do for IMSS:) haha... jkjk... it was an interesting talk though...felt closer to home after that as the speakers were all singaporeans and the people there were surprisingly mostly malaysians wanting to do internship in spore...
i realise the route to being a specialist, frm housemanship year, to medical officer, to resident, to consultant to senior consultant, missing some steps in the middle wld take another 6-7 years... they estimate to become a full specialist, u wld be abt 32 and most of them can finally branch out into private practise when they are 40 plus...plus there are endless exams to pass, interviews and hurdles to overcome... wat a LONG LONG journey... seems exciting though...determined to work harder... esp when there is so much competition i realise...!!!
anyways, went to kimchi grandma for dinner with pam and andrew, n i realise that my sem 1 marks wd go into my research year... as in my chances to go back spore to do my research year in sem 6-7... !! i really have to push myself le... average to be above 70 at least.!! my previous avg was like 64?? sighs... hope it gets better:):) i have always tot sem 1 marks were not counted at all!! sobs... but ya, at most i am stuck here!! haha...
gg to be another busy weekend.. have to perfect my mua chee to sell at the IMSS stall at the food festival next week... haha... there are other stuff we are making too so hopefully we can finally raise some funds..:)

n i love the cast... esp the PHANTOM.. Anthony Warlow:) when he and Ana Marina (Christine) sang, it was like WOW!!! tht was clearly my fav. scene... and John Bowles (Raoul) was so good too:) love the scene where he and christine was singing "all i ask of you" under backdrop of the stars and fountain:):):):):)
"the music of the night" was another favourite song:) i cldn help but was so caught into their act....SIGH!!! i didn want the show to end!!!
i told sam the theme for our prom night sld be like the mascarade balls:):) the costumes, masks and the whole outlook is SO cool!!! the colours, the fantasy and the music is awesome!
sighsighsigh!! i dont mind watching it again!! haha... though i think the theatre for Lion King last year was grander...Princess Theatre isn that bad too, just that the floor is too flat, so there are heads in front blocking my view!! but we had rather good seats, near the front in the middle...:):)

monday night... at abt 11pm... sam was lying in bed n i was at my computer... her phone rang... meishan called... i heard her exclaim: "HUH!!!really ar?" (hehe) my study door opened... i turned ard and then she said: "have fire, faster go downstairs!"
apparently there was an evacuation and many pple were already downstairs.. surprisingly, we didn hear the fire alarm on our floor ringing...meishan's floor was on the 19th so maybe the smoke hadn reached us yet on the 25th...
so both of us were still considering whether to go down... by stairs... we smelt smoke outside when we opened the door so we decided to go down... on the way down, met zhaokai... n then kevin called cos wilson told him abt it...milano wasn affected though...jack called on the way down too.. haha...everyone called at the right time:) LOL... it was hard talking while u were panting!! haha....
ya, so when we reached the ground floor, there were already two fire engines outside verve... firemen were in the lobby but actually there werent as many pple downstairs as i tot there were...
there was quite a chatter outside, most pple in their pyjamas, n then they told us that those who had places to go, better go first... as if it was a serious situation...
but it wasn too long after before we were allowed to go upstairs again... heard it was a fire in the rubbish chut, someone apparently threw a cigarette down... SIGHS!!! wat a fuss over the whole thing.. the person really deserves to be slapped... but i think those who decided to stay in their apartments were rather wise... it was so cold outside...HAHA...
tht night, i had to stay up till 230am to finish my work...sighs!!!
come to think of it, if it was really a serious fire, my sis n i wldnt be considered tht smart, cos the only thing we brought down was our HP and keys...

hehe.. this is my 2nd musical, after "LION KING" last year and i am hoping i can watch at elast one a year... made a pact with my sis le.. haha... lion king was more musical, colourful and lively, while phantom was more dark, opera(-ish) n immensely powerful voices:)
n i love the cast... esp the PHANTOM.. Anthony Warlow:) when he and Ana Marina (Christine) sang, it was like WOW!!! tht was clearly my fav. scene... and John Bowles (Raoul) was so good too:) love the scene where he and christine was singing "all i ask of you" under backdrop of the stars and fountain:):):):):)
"the music of the night" was another favourite song:) i cldn help but was so caught into their act....SIGH!!! i didn want the show to end!!!
i told sam the theme for our prom night sld be like the mascarade balls:):) the costumes, masks and the whole outlook is SO cool!!! the colours, the fantasy and the music is awesome!
sighsighsigh!! i dont mind watching it again!! haha... though i think the theatre for Lion King last year was grander...Princess Theatre isn that bad too, just that the floor is too flat, so there are heads in front blocking my view!! but we had rather good seats, near the front in the middle...:):)
okok.. i shall not continue raving abt it.. haha.. but too bad we werent allowed to take many pictures, but the voices are STILL in my head and the songs are stuck cant help humming them... haha...
monday night... at abt 11pm... sam was lying in bed n i was at my computer... her phone rang... meishan called... i heard her exclaim: "HUH!!!really ar?" (hehe) my study door opened... i turned ard and then she said: "have fire, faster go downstairs!"
apparently there was an evacuation and many pple were already downstairs.. surprisingly, we didn hear the fire alarm on our floor ringing...meishan's floor was on the 19th so maybe the smoke hadn reached us yet on the 25th...
so both of us were still considering whether to go down... by stairs... we smelt smoke outside when we opened the door so we decided to go down... on the way down, met zhaokai... n then kevin called cos wilson told him abt it...milano wasn affected though...jack called on the way down too.. haha...everyone called at the right time:) LOL... it was hard talking while u were panting!! haha....
ya, so when we reached the ground floor, there were already two fire engines outside verve... firemen were in the lobby but actually there werent as many pple downstairs as i tot there were...
there was quite a chatter outside, most pple in their pyjamas, n then they told us that those who had places to go, better go first... as if it was a serious situation...
but it wasn too long after before we were allowed to go upstairs again... heard it was a fire in the rubbish chut, someone apparently threw a cigarette down... SIGHS!!! wat a fuss over the whole thing.. the person really deserves to be slapped... but i think those who decided to stay in their apartments were rather wise... it was so cold outside...HAHA...
tht night, i had to stay up till 230am to finish my work...sighs!!!
come to think of it, if it was really a serious fire, my sis n i wldnt be considered tht smart, cos the only thing we brought down was our HP and keys...
i heard someone even brought a luggage down LOL...tok abt extreme...haha...n zk brought his passport down... tht cld be something to learn frm though... :0 :)hehe...
also, i had my first ICM tut today n so we played this game called liar liar... say 3 things and 2 of them must be true... the rest of the gp wld then guess which is false... i said " i nearly got kicked out of sch 3 years ago" "i sprained my ankle when i stepped on a tennis ball" "(one of) my fav. colour is orange"
guess wat.. the first reaction was that all of them tot the first one cld be true... "never know wat med students were actually like at sch?" my tutor commented.. haha... in the end, most pple tot the colour one was wrong!!!!!!!!!! sobs sobs... "do i look tht bad" ?? HAHA... damn funny la...
yupyup, n thx sam, cheinying n meishan for satisfying my craving for dumplings tonight:)HAHA... i tried to suck up to my sis sending her the sms tht "today is the best sister day.....etc...........so i know u will have dumplings with me right??craving...haha..." hehe...
i am smart arent i? LOL..yays... so i got three ppple to share 30 dumplings, noodles, pancakes for dinner with, at shanghai dumpling restaurant..:) must thx mel for introducing the place to me on sunday:0 hehe.. that means it has only been three days since i went there..HOHOHO...
emm... "will u have yumcha with me on sunday too?" hehe... sam: "my ears are closed"... haha..."phantom of the opera" on sunday too!!! :) cant wait...but first i have to find out where is princess theatre... hoping it wld be better than lion king last year which was seriously good!:)
